FREDERICTON (CNB) - The provincial government is investing more $508,000 through the Environmental Trust Fund (ETF) in 25 projects in northwestern New Brunswick. Environment Minister Rick Miles made the announcement today.

"I am pleased that the Environmental Trust Fund could provide support to northwestern New Brunswick through these environmental projects," said Miles. "Our government is strongly committed to promoting environmental sustainability and supporting environmental stewardship."

Each year the ETF provides significant support to community-based initiatives to restore, improve, preserve and protect air, land and water resources in New Brunswick.

The Department of Environment announced in April that almost $4 million from the ETF would be invested in 172 environmental projects throughout New Brunswick in 2010-11.

Revenue for the ETF comes from about half of the environmental fee paid on redeemable beverage containers in New Brunswick.
