FREDERICTON (CNB) - The provincial government is providing support, through the Environmental Trust Fund (ETF), to the City of Fredericton's Green Matters Certified pilot project. Environment Minister Rick Miles made the announcement today.
"Our government is strongly committed to promoting environmental sustainability and supporting environmental stewardship," said Environment Minister Rick Miles. "I am pleased that the ETF could provide $30,000 to this important project, which will support and assist the non-commercial sector as it strives to reduce its environmental footprint."
The City Fredericton is launching a one-year pilot project to help non-commercial groups, agencies and institutions reduce their environmental footprint and operating costs.
Each year, the ETF provides support to community-based initiatives to restore, improve, preserve and protect air, land and water resources in New Brunswick.
The department announced in April that almost $4 million from the ETF would be invested in 172 environmental projects throughout New Brunswick in 2010-11.
