Environmental Trust Fund supports Aboriginal projects (10/06/21)

FREDERICTON (CNB) - The provincial government, through the Environmental Trust Fund (ETF), is investing in four environmental projects being undertaken by the Aboriginal community. Environment Minister Rick Miles made the announcement today.

"Our government is strongly committed to promoting environmental sustainability and environmental stewardship, and these ETF investments are a testament to that," said Miles. "Today is National Aboriginal Day, and it is therefore a fitting opportunity to announce that the ETF is providing $120,600 in support to projects being completed by the Aboriginal community, which has always been a valuable partner in helping to promote and conserve the province's air, land and water resources."

The projects receiving funding are:

Each year, the ETF provides significant support to community-based initiatives to restore, improve, preserve and protect air, land and water resources.

The department announced in April that almost $4 million from the ETF would be invested in 172 environmental projects throughout New Brunswick in 2010-11.
