FREDERICTON (CNB) - The week of Oct. 19-25 will be observed as Spiritual and Religious Care Awareness Week in New Brunswick health-care facilities and across Canada, Health Minister Michael Murphy announced today.
"Spiritual well-being is recognized as an essential aspect of wellness and a determinant of health," said Murphy. "We are very fortunate in New Brunswick to have a team of dedicated spiritual and religious care providers who are an integral part of the health-care team."
Spiritual care is recognized by the Regional Health Authorities as an essential part of the holistic care of patients, and is provided by a combination of staff and volunteers.
