FREDERICTON (CNB) - A tentative agreement pertaining to fee-for-service physicians has been reached with the New Brunswick Medical Society, Health Minister Michael Murphy announced today.
"I congratulate the members of both bargaining committees on reaching this tentative agreement early this morning," Murphy said. "I greatly appreciate their efforts in this undertaking, which is very important to the provision of health care in our province."
The previous agreement, which had been reached in 2006, expired on March 31, 2008. Both parties have agreed to withhold details until the agreement has been ratified.
The majority of New Brunswick's doctors are fee-for-service physicians. This includes doctors, specialists and emergency room physicians.
"All of these dedicated doctors play a critical role in providing quality health care throughout our province for New Brunswickers when they need it," Murphy said.
