FREDERICTON (CNB) - The New Brunswick Human Rights Commission will hold public information sessions on social condition and political belief or activity, the two most recent grounds of discrimination added to the New Brunswick Human Rights Act.
The sessions will allow the public to become aware of the types of complaints that may be filed under these new grounds.
The information session on political belief or activity will be held on from 7 - 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007 in Room G1 of the James Dunn Hall on the St. Thomas University campus in Fredericton. It will include a panel discussion with Dr. Patrick Malcolmson, a Political Science professor and Vice-President (Academic) at St. Thomas University, and Prof. John McEvoy, who teaches Human Rights Law at UNB.
The information session on social condition will be held from 7 - 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13 in Ganong Hall on the UNBSJ campus in Saint John. This session will include a panel discussion with Kelly Van Buskirk, a lawyer with Lawson & Creamer in Saint John, and Randy Hatfield, Executive Director of the Human Development Council of Saint John.
Political belief or activity and social condition were added to the New Brunswick Human Rights Act in 2005.
