FREDERICTON (CNB) - Jill Peters has been appointed to the position of director of the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission retroactive to Sept. 28.
"We are very happy to welcome Jill Peters to our team at the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission," said Gordon Porter, commission chair. "She has shown her commitment to equality and social justice through her work here in New Brunswick, and has been involved in efforts in other countries as well. Jill will be an effective leader for the commission as we work to move ahead on human rights issues in the years to come."
Peters joins the commission from Social Development, where she has worked as manager of operational consulting since 2002.
During her career, Peters has held a number of management positions with the former departments of Family and Community Services, and Human Resources Development. She holds a masters degree in education from the University of New Brunswick and a bachelor's degree in social work from the University of Victoria.
