FREDERICTON (CNB) - NB Power has been named by MediaCorp as one of Canada's top 100 employers for 2010. It is the third consecutive year that NB Power has been in the top 100.

The dominant values among recognized employers reflected a return to the traditional benefits of stability, job security and continuity in workplace programs. More than 24,000 employers were invited to be considered for the top 100, and slightly more than 2,600 employers moved through the final stages for consideration, which required a detailed review of their operations and human resource practices.

"We are very honoured to be recognized nationally," said David Hay, NB Power president and CEO. "To receive this recognition for three consecutive years is significant, and it acknowledges the ongoing dedication of our 2,500 proud employees. Equally important, it demonstrates our ongoing commitment to working with and for the people of New Brunswick. Providing our customers with safe, reliable and sustainable electricity at the lowest possible cost, remains our focus."

"We strive to provide extraordinary service," said Paul Thériault, vice-president of human resources. "By treating our people well we are creating a work environment that gives both teams and individuals an opportunity to perform at their best. When people perform at their best they can accomplish great things, and this will result in our customers continuing to receive the high standard of service that they have come to expect from NB Power."

Thériault said that NB Power's commitment to providing safe, reliable and sustainable electricity is demonstrated through:

"All of these successes for our customers are made possible through our vision of people at their best, which is integral to NB Power's integrated human resource strategy," said Thériault. "This would not be possible without a strong relationship with labour. We are proud that NB Power has a strong relationship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 37, which represents a substantial majority of our employees in the NB Power Group."
