INKERMAN (CNB) - Members of the non-profit sector on the Acadian Peninsula will have the opportunity to meet with the provincial government and discuss concerns during the second of seven regional conferences. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Centre Communautaire d'Inkerman.
The Community Non-Profit Organizations Secretariat will hold the meeting in collaboration with the Centre de Bénévolat de la Péninsule Acadienne Inc.
"I'm very pleased to hold our next community non-profit conference on the Acadian Peninsula," said Carmel Robichaud, minister responsible for the secretariat. "Community is the heart of this region, and community non-profit organizations play such a vital role in the lives of so many throughout the peninsula. This conference will be a wonderful opportunity to share experiences and to discuss how together we can improve the services that non-profits provide throughout the region."
During consultations by the Premier's Task Force on the Community Non-Profit Sector, organizations and people from across the province spoke out on the sector's challenges and expectations in their respective regions.
"We now have the opportunity to make our contribution to the actions proposed by the government," said Léo-Paul Pinet, executive director of the Centre de Bénévolat de la Péninsule Acadienne. "Let's be sure to be there and to stand together."
Part of the conference's goals include: to discuss the Delivering on the Blueprint document; to create partnerships between the non-profit sector and government; and to share updates on the progress of the secretariat.
Registration is available on the secretariat's website or by telephoning 1-866-295-4545.
The next conference will take place Thursday, Oct. 23, in Moncton. For a full listing of conferences visit: www.gnb.ca/volunteer.
