EDMUNDSTON (CNB) - Non-profit sector members and groups in northwestern New Brunswick are reminded to attend the regional conference being held in Edmundston this weekend.
Brian Kenny, newly appointed minister of state for seniors, and minister responsible for the community non-profit organizations secretariat, will take part in his first regional conference as minister, and will meet with non-profit groups from Madawaska and Restigouche counties.
"I am very happy to be serving as minister for community non-profit organizations throughout our province," Kenny said. "I am thrilled to have this opportunity to meet non-profits working in the northwest, and to share in their insights and their experiences and ideas. I pledge to be a strong advocate for non-profits around the cabinet table and throughout government to allow them to be an even stronger participant in making our communities better and our province self-sufficient."
The fourth in a series of seven conferences being held throughout the province, the conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, at the New Brunswick Community College, Edmundston campus.
The conference will discuss Delivering on the Blueprint, government's response to the Premier's Community Non-Profit Task Force report, Blueprint for Action; creating partnerships between the non-profit sector and government; and sharing updates on the progress of the secretariat.
Registration is available on the secretariat's website, or by telephoning 1-888-295-4545.
The fifth conference will take place Jan. 17, 2009, in the Restigouche region. A full list of conferences is available at http://www.gnb.ca/0012/CNPO-OCSB/Conference/index-e.asp.
