RICHIBUCTO (CNB) - A new, $2.5-million district office for the Department of Natural Resources will open in Richibucto on Monday, Nov. 16, Natural Resources Minister Wally Stiles announced today.
As part of government's green buildings program, the office has been designed to achieve a silver rating under the principles of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), a rating system used to measure the performance of green buildings in Canada.
"This project is an example of our government's commitment to be a builder of green infrastructure for a more self-sufficient province," said Stiles. "The new district office is the third green building of its kind constructed for the department, and will provide a central location and improved work space for staff, while also producing energy savings as a modern, efficient and environmentally friendly facility."
The office is located at 22 Commerciale St., will have about 20 employees, and will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. It replaces Natural Resources offices in Bouctouche, Rogersville and Portage Saint-Louis. Those offices will close permanently as of 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10.
Staff will relocate to the Richibucto office Nov. 12-13. New Brunswickers who require Department of Natural Resources services on either of those two days should call or visit the Natural Resources office in either Miramichi (506-627-4050) or Dieppe (506-856-2344).
