Contract ratified by Association of New Brunswick Professional Educators (05/02/21)

NB 206

Feb. 21, 2005

FREDERICTON (CNB) - Members of the Association of New Brunswick Professional Educators voted to accept a tentative contract reached with the provincial government on Jan. 28, 2005.

Human Resources Minister Rose-May Poirier said the five-year agreement averages 2.5 per cent in increases, plus additional adjustments for some classifications.

"We are very pleased to have reached this collective agreement at the bargaining table," Poirier said. "Through hard work, commitment and compromise, we were able to work together to reach an agreement that is good for the employees, taxpayers and for students in the provincial community college system."

The Association of New Brunswick Professional Educators represents about 170 employees within the NBCC network and the Department of Training and Employment Development. These Education Program Officers work as department heads, guidance counsellors, student service co-ordinators and curriculum development officers.

This is the second five-year agreement reached since November 2003. That contract was with about 700 community college instructors.
