FREDERICTON (CNB) - A survey of employers in the province was initiated recently by the Labour Market Analysis branch of the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour (PETL), in partnership with the New Brunswick Career Development Action Group.

The survey is being undertaken by the independent research company, MarketQuest Research Group Inc.

Employer surveys are conducted on a periodic basis by PETL in order to gather opinions and information on various issues affecting employers in the province. This information helps the department ensure that its training programs and services meet the needs of the labour market, and also provides valuable information to employers on labour market trends.

The current employer survey is the largest such survey to date in New Brunswick, with 7,000 employers targeted to be interviewed. The department appreciates the participation of employers in this survey. All responses will be kept strictly confidential, and only aggregate data will be released.

The overall results of the survey will be released in report form and made available on the provincial government website at www.gnb.ca during the summer of 2008.
