DIEPPE (CNB) - The practical nursing program will be offered at the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB), Dieppe campus, beginning in September and every year until further notice. Twenty-four additional seats have been added to the program.
Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Donald Arseneault made the announcement today.
"We are aware of the persistent shortage of nursing staff in our health-care facilities," said Arseneault. "For this reason, rather than offering the practical nursing program every two years, we have decided to offer it every year at the CCNB, Dieppe. "Not only will this initiative create new jobs, but it will help reduce wait times in the hospital system."
This change in the practical nursing program does not apply to the program offered at the Bathurst, Campbellton, Edmundston and Acadian Peninsula campuses; the program will continue to be taught there every other year.
This change at the CCNB fits in with Be inspired. Be ready. Be better. The Action Plan to Transform Post-Secondary Education in New Brunswick.
