FREDERICTON (CNB) - Premier Bernard Lord announced today changes to his cabinet and minor changes to the structure of government.
"As we prepare for our third session of the 54th Legislative Assembly and we deal with challenges resulting from recent world events, we are working on some major initiatives, notably in the areas of building a competitive economy for job creation and health care," Lord said.
"Today's announcement represents that we are at a different stage on those priorities and it's important to have the right ministers dealing with the right issues to serve New Brunswickers."
The premier announced nine changes of portfolio, including the appointment of Rodney Weston (MLA - Saint John Fundy) as Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquaculture.

The premier announced minor structural changes to the structure government including the consolidation of all business development and investment attraction functions, including all business financial assistance programs, within the Department of Business New Brunswick. Premier Bernard Lord also announced a new Department of Tourism and Parks and an Office of Human Resources.
The overall size of the cabinet remains the same at 15.
Rodney Weston will be sworn in as Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquaculture at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10 during a ceremony at the Legislative Assembly. The next cabinet meeting will be held in Dalhousie.
