Coroner's inquest into death of Randy Trenholm (09/12/18)

FREDERICTON (CNB) - An inquest into the death of Randy Nelson Trenholm will take place Feb. 22-26, 2010, chief coroner Greg Forestell announced today.

On June 2, 2007, Trenholm became unresponsive while in the custody of District 4 RCMP. Emergency medical services transported Trenholm to the Dr.-Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The inquest will take place Feb. 22-26, 2010, at 770 Main St., Moncton. Presiding coroner John Evans and a jury will publicly hear evidence from subpoenaed witnesses in order to determine the facts surrounding the death. The jury will have the opportunity to make recommendations aimed at preventing future deaths under similar circumstances.

An inquest is a formal court proceeding that allows for public presentation of all evidence relating to a death. The New Brunswick Coroner Service is an independent fact-finding agency. The coroner does not attempt to assign responsibility or blame for a death.
