SAINT JOHN (CNB) - An investment of $200,000 will be provided to construct the Flemming Court Park in Saint John, Energy Minister Jack Keir announced today. Keir made the announcement on behalf of Finance Minister Victor Boudreau, who is also minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation.
"As a young boy who grew up in this neighbourhood, I know this new park will improve the quality of life, strengthen the community of Crescent Valley and area," said Keir.
Funding through the Regional Development Corporation will help defray the costs of the project. Located opposite the Crescent Valley Resource Centre, the project consists of transforming a piece of land bordered by Flemming Court and MacLaren Boulevard into a green space area with trees, benches, gazebo, play equipment and a splash pad.
"We would like to thank the provincial government for supporting this project for the youth of Crescent Valley," said Ann Barrett, treasurer of the Crescent Valley Resource Centre. "The youth came up with this idea because they wanted a safe, fun place for children to play. Today this announcement is bringing this dream closer to a reality."
