MONCTON (CNB) - An investment of $300,000 will be made to help complete the Rocky Stone Field Football Complex in Moncton, Health Minister Michael Murphy announced today.
"Ensuring that we have good recreational facilities such as the Rocky Stone Field Football Complex will help strengthen our communities and quality of life, and helps us to work toward our goal of self-sufficiency," Murphy said.
Murphy made the announcement on behalf of Finance Minister Victor Boudreau, who is also minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation.
Funding provided through the Regional Development Corporation will be used to help defray the costs of completing the $1.5-million project, which includes construction of a new clubhouse, new bleachers, washrooms, concessions, ticket booths and coaches/media area.
"Today's announcement comes as great news for the City of Moncton, for our athletes, and sports fans as we prepare a far more superior Rocky Stone Field Football Complex," said Moncton Mayor George LeBlanc. "Monctonians stand to benefit from the province's decision to invest in the creation of this facility, a lasting legacy for future generations."
The complex is a premier athletic facility specifically focused on football and soccer, hosting numerous high-school, provincial, regional and international sporting events.
