SAINT JOHN (CNB) - A contribution of $450,000 through the Regional Development Corporation will be made toward the expansion and renovation of new facilities for Key Industries in Saint John. Premier Shawn Graham made the announcement today.
"Today's announcement will permit Key Industries to grow and serve its clients in a much improved facility that will help everyone on their journey toward self-sufficiency," said Graham.
Joining Graham for the announcement were Minister of Energy Jack Keir, Minister of Social Development Mary Schryer, Saint John Mayor Ivan Court, and R. Gary Faloon, Key Industries board of directors.
"We would like to thank the provincial government for recognizing us as an integral part of enhancing the lives of those with various disabilities," said Faloon. "It is this support that will allow Key Industries to continue its proud tradition of serving as a crucial building block for its clients to reach new levels of self-reliance and self-fulfillment."
The new facilities will be used to accommodate the growth of Key Industries' clients, and to implement new programs. A previous contribution of $500,000 was made toward this project, bringing the Province of New Brunswick's total contribution to $950,000.
Founded in 1974, Key Industries is a non-profit organization providing inclusive learning experiences - including Adult Development Activities Programs and Training (ADAPT) - to adults with intellectual disabilities, to increase independence, self-esteem, personal development and quality of life.
