SAINT-QUENTIN (CNB) - A financial contribution of up to $850,000 will be made by the provincial government toward infrastructure improvements to accommodate major events in Saint-Quentin, including the annual Festival Western de Saint-Quentin. Premier Shawn Graham made the announcement today.
"The Province of New Brunswick is proud to be a partner in this important community infrastructure project for Saint-Quentin and region," said Graham. "Our investment will help generate employment and tourism, which are important parts of our government's goal of self-sufficiency."
Joining Graham for the announcement were Post Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Donald Arseneault; Rodrigue Levesque, deputy mayor of Saint-Quentin; Rino Perron, president of Festival Western de Saint-Quentin; and Conde Gauvin, of the Centre Culturel de Saint-Quentin.
"Our municipal council is very pleased with the province's significant investment in Saint-Quentin's professional western rodeo," said Levesque. "These funds, which will be directed toward improvements to infrastructure, will allow us to welcome a larger number of participants to this major regional event."
Through the Regional Development Corporation, the Province of New Brunswick is entering into a partnership with the Town of Saint-Quentin, Festival Western de Saint-Quentin and the Centre Culturel de Saint-Quentin to provide funds toward the $2.2-million project. This will involve the construction of a permanent outdoor facility and infrastructure improvements to the Centre de Culturel de Saint-Quentin.
