QUISPAMSIS (CNB) - The Province of New Brunswick is pledging up to $300,000 toward the Kennebecasis Valley fields project.
Health Minister Mary Schryer, who was then minister of Social Development, made the announcement on Saturday, June 20, in Quispamsis on behalf of Victor Boudreau, minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation.
"Ensuring that we have good recreational facilities helps improve our quality of life, strengthens our communities, and helps us toward our goal of self-sufficiency," said Schryer.
The Kennebecasis Valley fields project consists of the construction and implementation of an artificial turf surface at the existing field site behind Kennebecasis Valley High School.
"This is a significant and important step in this community project," said Bob Munro, co-chairman of the KV Fields Committee, the group responsible for the project. "The support of the provincial government is most appreciated, and it is critical because it enables our board to move forward."
Funding toward the project is contingent upon the KV Fields Committee securing all remaining funding requirements, including a matching contribution from other public sectors.
