BATHURST (CNB) - The province is investing $305,000 in Bathurst Machine Shop Ltd. to help it expand its metal fabrication facility, purchase new equipment, and create eight jobs. Business New Brunswick Minister Victor Boudreau, who is also minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation, made the announcement today in Bathurst.
"Partnering with a company such as Bathurst Machine Shop demonstrates our government's commitment to economic development in Bathurst and New Brunswick," said Boudreau. "We are putting New Brunswick on the road to self-sufficiency by investing in the Chaleur region, and helping it to create more employment in all regions."
Boudreau was joined by Minister of State for Seniors Brian Kenny, and Gerald Pitre, general manager of Bathurst Machine Shop Ltd.
"Without the provincial government's assistance, we wouldn't be able to proceed with this project," said Pitre.
Funding is provided through the Regional Development Corporation, and in addition to acquiring the new equipment will permit the company to establish a 929-sq.-metre (10,000-sq.-ft.) fabrication shop in the Bathurst Industrial Park.
