SAINT-QUENTIN (CNB) - The provincial government is investing $122,430 in infrastructure improvements to accommodate visitors in Saint-Quentin. Premier Shawn Graham made the announcement today.
"The Province of New Brunswick is proud to be a partner in this community infrastructure project for Saint-Quentin and region," said Graham. "Enhancing the visitor experience by making investments in tourist infrastructure is one objective identified in An Action Plan for Self-Sufficiency in Northern New Brunswick 2010-2013. Our investment will help generate employment and tourism, which are important parts of our government's goal of self-sufficiency."
Joining Graham for the announcement were Robert Beaulieu, mayor of Saint-Quentin; and Rino Perron, president of Festival Western de Saint-Quentin.
"I welcome the involvement of the provincial government in improving this campground," said Perron. "Without this assistance from the provincial government, this project would never have been achieved. As a result of these improvements, we are proud to say that the campground sites are entirely rented."
Funding from the Regional Development Corporation will be used to re-locate the campground to accommodate the number of tourists visiting Saint-Quentin, including the annual Festival Western de Saint-Quentin.
