FREDERICTON (CNB) - The following message was issued by Minister of State for Seniors Cheryl Lavoie in recognition of Senior's Month in June:
It is an honour and a privilege for me to represent the seniors in our province. They are the New Brunswickers who made our province a great place to be. I look forward to working with them and with our seniors' organizations and stakeholder groups as we continue to improve the lives of seniors, provide assistance and support for their families, and meet the current and future needs of our aging population.
Senior's Month creates awareness and appreciation for seniors and draws attention to the contributions they have made and continue to make toward our way of life in New Brunswick. It encourages dignity and respect for seniors and puts the spotlight on their interests, needs, activities and accomplishments. Many of our seniors are enjoying complete independence, while others are receiving services at home and in long-term-care facilities. All of them deserve our friendship and support.
Let's celebrate their lives each and every day and reflect on what we can do for the seniors we know and love.
