FREDERICTON (CNB) - Companies in New Brunswick interested in selling goods and services to the public sector can learn how to do so during the 2009 Atlantic Provinces Reverse Trade Show. The provincial government and other partners will hold the event from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the Fredericton Inn.

"The Government of New Brunswick alone procures more than $600 million in goods and services each year, 70 per cent of which is purchased from New Brunswick suppliers," said Supply and Services Minister Ed Doherty. "We're hoping this event will provide New Brunswick companies with the information they need to gain access to more of our business and to identify other public sector supplier opportunities in Atlantic Canada."

The event will be held in partnership with the Office for Small and Medium Enterprise (OSME), Enterprise Fredericton and the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce.

Sellers will have the opportunity to visit the display booths of potential buyers; to promote their products and services; and to ask questions about procurement processes. The show will feature exhibitors from all four Atlantic Canadian provincial governments, the Government of Canada, municipalities, post-secondary institutions and Crown corporations.

"This is an excellent opportunity for local businesses to diversify their markets further and to offer their world-class products to public sector buyers in Atlantic Canada," said Business New Brunswick Minister Victor Boudreau. "This government is lowering taxes to create the most cost-competitive environment for business in the country, and we are proud to support another initiative that will lead to more opportunities for companies in our province."

The event will also feature workshops on Selling to the Public Sector, where businesses may obtain tips on navigating the procurement processes of the provincial and federal governments and responding to opportunities.

Admission will be free. More information and registration are available online.
