MONCTON (CNB) - Residents of the Petitcodiac River watershed are advised that the Government of New Brunswick will open the control structure of the Petitcodiac causeway during the week of April 13-16. The precise timing of the gate opening will be subject to optimal tidal conditions. Residents are advised to refrain from recreational activities on the headpond or directly downstream of the causeway until further advised.
In future, the Petitcodiac River from the upper Bay of Fundy to Salisbury will be a tidal estuary. People who live, work and or boat along the river should be aware of the implications of the tidal regime on the river, riverbank and mudflats, and exercise an appropriate level of caution.
