FREDERICTON (CNB) - A new print given to the Department of Tourism and Parks by renowned naturalist painter Robert Bateman goes on sale this week.
The print is titled The Family Hike, and it depicts members of Bateman's family on an outing in a natural setting. Bateman presented the print to Premier Shawn Graham during a ceremony in Moncton earlier this week.
The province has been granted exclusive rights to sell copies of the print to commemorate the 75th anniversary of provincial parks in New Brunswick. Proceeds will be used to develop programs and educational tools to promote the many natural wonders that the parks offer visitors. A portion of the proceeds will also be contributed to the Robert Bateman Get to Know Program, which encourages children to connect with nature by learning the names and characteristics of local species.
"We are grateful to Mr. Bateman for this gift, and for the opportunity to apply the proceeds from the sale of the prints to celebrate and promote our parks and their rich natural heritage," said Tourism and Parks Minister Stuart Jamieson.
Copies of the print are available through Service New Brunswick and may be ordered online at www.snb.ca/RBE.
