PONT-LAFRANCE (CNB) - The Tracadie River # 2 bridge on Route 370 in Pont-Lafrance will be closed to traffic from 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, until 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, Transportation Minister Denis Landry announced today.
Signage informing motorists of alternate routes will be posted. Route 370 and Route 11 are the suggested detours.
Department of Transportation crews will be performing a concrete pour on the west side of the bridge as part of a continuing $355,000 capital project.
"This concrete beam structure was built in 1975," said Landry. "The department has been working on this bridge all summer replacing the expansion joints and rehabilitating the entire bridge deck along with related upgrades."
The bridge deck will also be resurfaced as weather permits over the next two weeks, with traffic reduced to one lane during this period. The improvements are scheduled to be completed by the end of September.
Landry said that this is the final planned full closure of the bridge.
