PAQUETVILLE (CNB) - Traffic on the Pokemouche River #5 bridge on Route 135 in Paquetville will be reduced to one lane for the next six weeks as Department of Transportation crews undertake maintenance work. Transportation Minister Denis Landry made the announcement today.
"District staff will be replacing the expansion joints on this concrete beam structure, which was built in 1981, at a cost of about $45,000," said Landy.
The work is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 30. Landry reminded motorists to expect some delays, be patient, and to reduce their speeds, noting that fines have doubled for those caught speeding in construction zones.
"I want to thank motorists for their patience and understanding as our crews continue to do important work in all areas of the province, making our transportation system better and safer for all of us," he said.
