SMITHFIELD (CNB) - Hunter Road in Smithfield will be closed to through traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m on Wednesday Sept. 30, Transportation Minister Denis Landry announced today.
"Department of Transportation staff will be working to undertake a culvert replacement on the Hunter Road," said Landry. "This work, worth $12,000, will replace an existing culvert that carries traffic on the Hunter Road, and will improve road quality in the area."
Hunter Road is 2.5 kilometres long, and carries traffic between routes 3 and 640. Signage will be in place at both route intersections to inform motorists of the closure to through traffic.
Homeowners in the area may still use Route 640 to get to their homes.
This project is funded through the Department of Transportation's record-breaking $358.8-million capital budget for 2009-10.
