McKEES MILLS (CNB) - Upgrades will be made to the Little Buctouche River Bridge #2, Transportation Minister Denis Landry announced today. Landry said that crews will begin work Monday, Oct. 26, with the completion date set for Friday, Nov. 6.
The upgrades will require the bridge to be closed to all traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday. Detour signage will be posted at strategic locations to inform motorists of alternate routes.
"This deck replacement project will ensure the quality and safety of the structure, and ensure that this crossing continues to serve the community for many years to come."
The Little Buctouche River Bridge #2 was built in 1948, and is a 12.85-metre-long wooden stringer structure that carries traffic on the Sheridan Road across the Little Buctouche River.
Landry said that the Department of Transportation regrets any inconvenience this closure may cause, and he reminded motorists to reduce their speeds in construction zones.
