WELDFORD (CNB) - The Richibucto River Bridge #2 will be closed from Monday, Nov. 16, until Friday, Dec. 18, due to repairs. Motorists are advised to take Route 510 or Route 116 as alternates. Detour signs will be in place.
The provincial government is investing more than $85,000 to upgrade the structure, which carries traffic on the Main River Creek Road across the Richibucto River at Graham Point.
"Staff from our district will be working over the next five weeks replacing parts of the wooden bridge deck along with the bridge beams," said Transportation Minister Landry. "This structure has a long and rich history in Kent County, and these improvements will ensure this bridge will serve motorists in the area for years to come."
The closure is part of the department's plans to maintain and repair 2,900 bridges in the province. The Richibucto River Bridge #2 was built in 1914 and has a steel-through truss.
