SHEDIAC BRIDGE (CNB) - Shediac River Bridge #1, located on Route 134, will be closed daily between Tuesday, Nov. 24, and Friday, Nov. 27, for repairs. Detour signs will be posted.
The 97-year-old bridge will be closed during this period each day from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. The Department of Transportation will be replacing a section of the bridge deck to strengthen the structure. The estimated cost is $25,000.
"This 87.5-metre structure was built in 1912 and certainly has a rich history in the community," said Transportation Minister Denis Landry. "We take great pride in maintaining bridges, such as this one, as best we can so they may remain in circulation. We want to extend their life cycle so they continue to serve motorists for many years to come."
