GAGETOWN (CNB) - Users of the Gagetown ferry are advised by the Department of Transportation that the ferry will be taken out of service at midnight on Thursday, Dec. 10.
The vessel, which runs 18-hours-a-day seasonally, will be dry-docked before ice prevents it from being moved. The ferry will be towed to its winter quarters at Evandale on Friday, Dec. 11.
As per recommendations of the community working group, the ferry will be given a further assessment by a naval architect to determine if it meets federal standards, and to outline necessary upgrades and costs.
