SAINT JOHN (CNB) - The Saint John Thruway (Route 1) eastbound, near Strescon, will be reduced to one lane for up to one week starting today. This reduction will be required as crews fabricate a new overhead sign on Route 1.
"The department, in conjunction with Maritime Fence Ltd., is working on a $296,000 project that, when completed, will direct motorists to the new Ashburn Lake Road exit," said Transportation Minister Denis Landry. "Built in 2007, this exit ramp provides a connection from the Mackay Highway to the growing retail development in the Rothesay Avenue and Retail Drive areas."
Signs will be in place in the work zone, and motorists are reminded to reduce their speeds and drive safely.
