UPPER DURHAM (CNB) - Upper Durham Road will be closed intermittently between noon and 5 p.m from Tuesday to Thursday this week due to construction associated with the Route 8 Nashwaak/Marysville bypass.
The work is being done by Redem Construction Ltd. of Rusagonis, which won a tender for the construction of an overpass on Route 8. The value of the work is $1.78 million. Four companies bid on the contract.
"This activity will be taking place Dec. 15, 16, and 17, starting at noon," said Transportation Minister Denis Landry. "Crews will be placing three concrete beams each day, and each beam takes about 30 minutes to place. A full road closure is required during this period. Once a beam is placed, staff will re-open the road to allow traffic to flow for about 30 minutes until they are ready to place the next beam."
The Department of Transportation has notified emergency first responders and School District 18 about the closure.
The Lower Durham Road is the suggested alternate route. Signs and Department of Transportation staff will be present to help guide motorists.
