UPPER DURHAM (CNB) - Upper Durham Road will be closed intermittently between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m on Thursday, Feb. 18, due to construction associated with the Route 8 Nashwaak/Marysville bypass.
There will be two closures of Upper Durham Road for up to 30 minutes each. Motorists are encouraged to use Lower Durham Road as an alternate.
The work is being done by Redem Construction Ltd. of Rusagonis, which won a tender for the construction of an overpass on Route 8. The value of the contract is $1.78 million.
"Two bridge beams will be placed tomorrow for the new structure," said Transportation Minister Denis Landry. "Seven have already been installed. We will be advancing this 36-km bypass which, when completed, will result in residents, tourists and the trucking community having a safer, more efficient route."
The bypass is scheduled to be completed by 2014.
