Traffic advisory / One Mile House interchange (10/05/21)

NB 784

May 21, 2010

SAINT JOHN (CNB) - The Crown Street Exit (Exit 125) on Route 1 in Saint John will be permanently closed on Tuesday, May 25.

The closure is necessary as part of the province's construction of the One Mile House interchange project. Transportation Minister Denis Landry made the announcement today.

Motorists are reminded of this major traffic pattern change. Signage will help direct traffic to a new ramp leading to Allison Road. There will no longer be access to Allison Road by way of Wright Street.

The One Mile House interchange project includes a 600-m structure and associated ramps and roadways connecting Route 1 to Bayside Drive, crossing the Canadian National railyard, Marsh Creek and Rothesay Avenue.

"The interchange project has a scheduled completion date of 2012," said Landry. "The $65-million project is designed to improve access and traffic flow in the industrial area of Saint John while reducing congestion from the downtown commercial district."
