Traffic advisory / bridge repairs (10/06/30)

FREDERICTON (CNB) - Motorists are advised that repairs are taking place, or will be taking place soon, at the following bridges:
- the Lameque-Shippagan drawbridge on Route 113 is reduced to one lane for about five weeks. Department of Transportation crews will be strengthening the
structure and repairing concrete;
- the Hugh John Flemming Bridge on Route 130 near Hartland will be closed to traffic, weather permitting, on Saturday July 3, Sunday July 4, and Monday, July 5.
This is the fourth and final scheduled closure during Phase 1 of the project. The closure is required because the bridge is being paved and water-proofed;
- the Curry Brook Bridge on the Vaughan Creek Road in St. Martins will be closed for about 10 weeks starting Tuesday, July 13. This temporary structure is being
- the Maces Basin Bridge on Route 790 in the Point Lepreau area is reduced to one lane for the next eight weeks. Traffic lights are in place.
More than $1.8 million is being invested in these projects, funded through the capital budget of the Department of Transportation.
"Motorists should anticipate some traffic disruption in these areas and watch for detour signs informing them of alternate routes," said Transportation Minister Denis
Landry. "I encourage all drivers to reduce their speeds in construction zones, adjust their travel times and driving habits and be safe on our highways."
