ÉVANGELINE (CNB) - The Department of Transportation is upgrading the Évangeline Bridge on Route 345 between Pokemouche and Saint-Simon. Transportation Minister Denis Landry announced the work today.
"This structure will be fully closed to traffic for one month starting today, Monday, July 5, at 1 p.m.," said Landry. "The provincial government is investing $60,000 to remove and replace the wooden bridge deck and carry out improvements to the sidewalk."
The Évangeline Bridge was built in 1987.
Landry said the project is funded through the Department of Transportation's $439.3-million capital budget for 2010-11, the third consecutive record capital budget for the department.
Motorists are advised to use the Blanchard Road (Route 335) as an alternate route. Detour signs will be posted to assist drivers.
