RIVIÈRE DU NORD (CNB) - A number of activities will take place from July 11 - 17 at the Village Historique Acadien.
Brayon breakfast: On Sunday, July 11, representatives from the City of Edmundston, its tourism office, and the Foire brayonne will be present at Post House 1 starting at 10 a.m. to promote the attractions of their lovely region. You will have the opportunity to sample their famous "ployes" or buckwheat pancakes and tasty cretons in a fun and friendly atmosphere.
Pew auction and paupers auction: Around 1:30 p.m. on July 11, you can attend a double auction. First a pew auction, where the spaces that have become vacant in the church are sold to the highest bidder. This will be followed by a paupers auction, where the orphaned poor are entrusted to the care of those who agree to look after them for the least amount of compensation.
Children's programs: Children are always welcome at the village. They can sign up for a one-day program called Old-Fashioned Lifestyle for Modern-Day Kids or a one-week program called Children of the Village. The young participants dress in period clothes and, under the watchful eyes of staff members, learn about the lifestyle and dress of yesteryear.
Dinner theatre at the Château Albert hotel: Against the backdrop of a luxury hotel from the early 20th century, relive the ambiance of bygone days with the music of the Gaboteux or the Veilleux while enjoying a delicious traditional meal. Fiddle tunes, call-and-response songs, and delightful tales alternate with the best of Acadian cuisine from the period.
You will definitely want to be there at the Village Historique Acadien, for a wonderful journey back in time.
