FREDERICTON (CNB) - Premier Shawn Graham, who is also minister for wellness, culture and sport, issued the following message in recognition of February as Psychology Month for the third consecutive year in New Brunswick and Canada:
"As Premier and minister of wellness, culture and sport, I am pleased to recognize February as Psychology Month.
"Mental fitness and resiliency are one of the four pillars that guide our provincial wellness strategy. It is essential to overall personal wellness, as positive mental health is the foundation of personal well-being.
"Psychologists work with our citizens in hospitals, universities, public and private clinics, schools, prisons and workplaces all over our province. By encouraging mental fitness and resiliency in these kinds of environments, they are working toward the well-being of all New Brunswickers.
"I would like to congratulate the College of Psychologists of New Brunswick and the Canadian Psychological Association for having identified the month of February as Psychology Month. Their work has a tremendous impact on the overall wellness of the citizens of our province."
"During Psychology Month, national and provincial psychologists associations, psychologists in private practices, academics, scientists, and psychologists working in various domains in society have organized local activities to promote public awareness and better explain the benefits offered by their profession and why it contributes to the well-being of the community. Their message is simple: psychology is for everyone."
