"By signing this memorandum today, New Brunswick has demonstrated that it is ready and excited to participate in the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic experience," said Graham, who is also minister of wellness, culture and sport. "We have agreed to work with the Vancouver 2010 Organizing Committee on various initiatives, which will ensure that New Brunswick's unique culture and the skills of our people can contribute in a positive way to the successful hosting of Canada's Games."

The memorandum of understanding focuses on eight areas of co-operation, including culture; French-language needs; outreach programs; volunteer requirements; human resource requirements; sport; marketing and tourism; and tendering opportunities for New Brunswick.

"As the only officially bilingual province, New Brunswick will be a valued partner in helping us deliver on our commitment to stage Canada's Games in both French and English," Furlong said. "We welcome the energy and participation of this very special province, and look forward to exploring opportunities for New Brunswick to participate on the world stage, helping to enrich our 2010 Games celebrations."

"As the host province of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, British Columbia is working hard to put on an extraordinary experience that will make all of Canada proud and inspire the world," said British Columbia Premier Gordon Campbell. "We are thrilled with our progress to date, and are delighted to welcome New Brunswick to help truly make these Canada's Games."
