FREDERICTON (CNB) - The names of those representing the province at the 6th Games of La Francophonie were announced today by Wellness, Culture and Sport Minister Hédard Albert, who is also minister responsible for the Francophonie. The Games will be held from Sept. 27 to Oct. 6, in Beirut, Lebanon.
"The Games of La Francophonie are an important international sporting and cultural event, providing an opportunity for New Brunswick athletes and artists to shine on the international scene," said Albert. "I congratulate all the athletes, artists, and staff chosen to represent our province in Lebanon. I am proud of these New Brunswickers who have met the international criteria to qualify to compete at these Games. The team members will act as ambassadors, embodying the vitality and enthusiasm of our young people."

Albert also unveiled Team Canada-New Brunswick's official uniforms and its Games website, which will contain information about the athletes and artists selected for the various competitions. New Brunswickers may view the team's daily schedule of activities and competition results through links with the website of the 2009 Games organizing committee and the Canada and Canada-Quebec teams.
"This site is a very useful tool, because it will facilitate communication with our delegation," said Albert. "It will be updated regularly so that New Brunswickers can keep up with the latest developments on our team in Lebanon. News bulletins and photos of the day will also be posted."
Designed and developed by Communications New Brunswick, the Team Canada-New Brunswick website will be updated with the assistance of the Department of Wellness, Culture and Sport.
The 6th Games of La Francophonie will bring together more 3,000 athletes and artists from more than 48 different states and governments.
