Minister's message / Coaches Week in New Brunswick (09/11/18)

NB 1825

Nov. 18, 2009

FREDERICTON (CNB) - Wellness, Culture and Sport Minister Hédard Albert issued the following message in recognition of Coaches Week in New Brunswick, Nov. 13 - 20:

As minister of wellness, culture and sport, I am pleased to recognize Nov. 13 - 20 as Coaches Week in New Brunswick.

Coaches are key to the development of all of our athletes. From the time our children join sport, coaches help guide their learning, physical development and skill acquisition.

They also have a major role to play in ensuring that all athletes, regardless of skill, learn to enjoy and appreciate physical activity through organized sport. Nurturing this interest in physical activity at an early age is essential to developing lifelong healthy behaviours, which in turn lead to the overall wellness of our population.

I recognize that most of the coaches across our province are volunteers. They devote countless hours of their time to improving their coaching abilities; learning more about their sport; and organizing and coaching their athletes.

Congratulations to all coaches throughout New Brunswick. Thank you for your dedication to sport. You are each making a difference in the lives of our athletes.
