FREDERICTON (CNB) - Adjustments and additions will be made to New Brunswick Film programs, including centralization of the organization's services in Fredericton. The announcement was made today by Wellness, Culture and Sport Minister Hédard Albert.
"In view of the current situation for film producers in the province, we plan to change the New Brunswick film tax credit in order to increase the number of films produced here, which will contribute to the local economy," said Albert. "If we have a long-term tax credit for the film industry, it is very likely that more films will be produced in our province."
The changes will be made to meet the needs of those working in the film industry. They include:
The offices of New Brunswick Film will be located in the Arts Development Branch of the Department of Wellness, Culture and Sport. Service delivery was streamlined to avoid cuts in programs offered. The department will try to reassign the employees of these offices to positions within the provincial government.
