FREDERICTON (CNB) - New Brunswickers are being encouraged to apply to serve on the New Brunswick Arts Board (NBAB), Wellness, Culture and Sport Minister Hédard Albert announced today.
"Using a transparent appointment process reflects the government's commitment to ensure that these appointments meet the needs and interests of all New Brunswickers," Albert said.
The 14-member NBAB board of directors is responsible for facilitating the creation, promotion and appreciation of the arts in New Brunswick, primarily at the professional level.
Candidates must live in New Brunswick, and have experience, expertise in, and knowledge of the arts in the province. The period of service will be for three years.
Although the New Brunswick government is seeking candidates with a varied range of skills and experience, special attention will be given to applications from professional artists. This is because the NBAB board of directors must contain a minimum of seven professional artists or representatives of organizations of professional artists.
Expressions of interest may be submitted until Thursday, April 15, by e-mail to: firstname.lastname@example.org; by regular mail to Nominations, New Brunswick Arts Board, Department of Wellness, Culture and Sport, Place 2000, 250 King St., Fredericton, NB, E3B 9M9; or by fax to 506-453-6668.
The NBAB is an arm's-length Crown corporation with mandate to facilitate and promote the creation of art; facilitate the enjoyment, awareness and understanding of the arts; advise the government on arts policy; unify and speak for the arts community; and manage funding applications from professional artists.
A description of this and other opportunities to serve on provincial agencies, boards and commissions is available on the Government of New Brunswick website.
