Report released on non-profit sector

The report of the Premier’s Task Force on the Community Non-Profit Sector was released today, following a thorough consultation process throughout the province.

Task Force leader Claudette Bradshaw and her team spent seven months visiting communities and gathering information about the work and challenges of non-profit organizations throughout the province. The consultation process began with the formation of the task force in December 2006.

“We hope this will help to guide government in policy development, and in building a stronger relationship between the government and New Brunswick communities. - Task Force leader Claudette Bradshaw

Blueprint for action
Building a foundation for self-sufficiency

Funding for the community non-profit sector is not
an expenditure; it’s an investment with dividends
just like an investment in the business sector. It
benefits the public by enabling people to learn and
grow.

It saves money by reducing the costs related to
illness, poverty, lack of education, crime, etc, while
improving the quality of life for everyone. It reduces
pressure on government services and adds value to
local economies.
