Select Committee on Public Automobile Insurance

The report of the Committee on Public Automobile Insurance was tabled in the Legislative Assembly by Committee chair Elizabeth Weir (MLA - Saint John Harbour).

“This report represents a remarkable achievement,” Weir said. “It represents an all-party agreement to a public automobile insurance model that is in the interests of the people of New Brunswick. This is what committee members were asked to do by the Legislative Assembly, to design a model that is appropriate to New Brunswick.”

The 12-member committee has been working since September to examine public automobile insurance and come up with a model. Its deliberations lasted seven months and included public hearings in eight communities throughout the province.
