Text of Bill :

   WHEREAS the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires, N.B. & P.E.I. Division, Inc. prays that it be enacted as hereinafter set forth;
   
   THEREFORE, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:

1                           The enacting clause of An Act Respecting the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires, N.B. & P.E.I. Division Inc., chapter 62 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 2000, is
repealed and the following is substituted:

   WHEREAS the Corps of Commissionaires was formed in England, in 1859, for the purpose of finding gainful employment for ex-soldiers of the Crimean War;
   
   AND WHEREAS the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires was formed in Canada in 1925 with the same purpose for veterans of World War I, and later, for veterans of World
War II;
   
   AND WHEREAS the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires, N.B. & P.E.I. Division was formed in 1946, incorporated by Letters Patent in 1972 with the same fundamental aim and
purpose;
   
   AND WHEREAS it is desirable to replace the Letters Patent with legislation;
   
   AND WHEREAS the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires, N.B. & P.E.I. Division, Inc. is carrying out the fundamental principal of finding employment for those persons of
good character, who have been subject to discipline and imbued with a sense of pride in work and deportment;
   
   AND WHEREAS the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires, N.B. & P.E.I. Division, Inc. acts as a conduit by which employment is found for those persons with the above
attributes;
   
   AND WHEREAS it is expedient to enact legislation that conforms as closely as conveniently possible with the legislation enacting other divisions of the Canadian Corps of
Commissionaires;
   
   AND WHEREAS the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires, N.B. & P.E.I. Division, Inc. prays that it be enacted as hereinafter set forth;
   
   THEREFORE, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:

2                           Subsection 3(4) of the Act is amended in the portion preceding paragraph (a) by adding "who are of good character provided that the Board may give preferences
to such persons" after "Commonwealth and".
